6 months after our first team offsite on the sunny beaches of Rio de Janeiro, we flew the global team to freezing (-5 Degrees Celsius) Belgium for an unforgettable offsite in the charming town of Malmedy, Belgium. This trip was particularly special as it marked a significant milestone for our team - we had grown from 11 people at our previous offsite to 30 strong team members now. Despite a lot of virtual meetings and interactions in the past months, for many, it was the first time meeting each other in person. An amazing opportunity to really get to know each other and connect at a different level.

Intense is the word that I would use to describe the days I spent in Belgium with the whole team. I feel like we managed to fit 3 months worth of office interactions in only 5 days, and had a lot of fun doing it. It was all about getting to know one another and team bonding, which is very important when you have a team scattered around the globe.” - Joana Dias - Based in Brazil

Considering the team almost tripled in size and for many, it was the first time meeting in person, this offsite was jam-packed with activities to foster teamwork and build deeper connections.

The first day was centered on business updates, vision, mission realignment, and setting out the 2023 strategic roadmap. Multiple feedback sessions allowed us to take a step back as team, reflect on the past 6months of hyper-growth, and harmonize for the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Being a geographically diverse company with coworkers based in over five countries around the globe, we greatly benefit from unique ideas, insights, and perceptions. It's something I notice every day when working with my teammates remotely, but to experience it in person was truly special.” - Jon Casterline - Based in New York

The second day, was all about team building. We had the pleasure to invite Dirk from Boempatat, immersing us in the Wim Hof Methodology. You might have heard of the name, Wim Hof, who mostly known for his icy challenges. However, we got to experience the Wim Hof Method is much more than just taking cold showers and ice baths. The method gives you a framework to cope with stress, teaching you how to stay focused and keep mental clarity during uncomfortable situations. The ice bath is merely a metaphor for the challenges and discomfort life throws at you.

It was truly an incredible experience, testing everybody's mental resilience, pushing us out of our comfort zones and creating a deeper level of connection within the team.

In the afternoon, we participated in a thrilling escape game that required us to work together as a team and utilize each person's unique skills and strengths. Topping off the day with some traditional Belgian beer tasting at a local brewery. The perfect way to relax and unwind after a full day of activities.

On the final day, we relaxed and enjoyed some outdoor activities, such as hiking and sightseeing. We ended the day with a massage, leaving us feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, at least for those who did not close the party. And, of course, no trip to Belgium would be complete without indulging in some delicious Belgium fries.

A great combination of work and play! All of us doing the ice bath was a truly unique experience! Describing the offsite in one sentence: “Early mornings and late nights” The hotel in the Ardennes made for a warm and homely atmosphere.” - Bart De Caluwé - Based in Belgium
